Input Matrix - iPad 1 vs iPad 3rd/4th Gen

Post by harpman » Tue Apr 01, 2014 11:00 am

I noticed something very interesting. I take the same project (16-channel default) and load it on both my iPad 1 and iPad Air. Same input matrix and settings (although more settings available on iPad Air). I read Ch 11/12 in the input matrix when connected to my iPad Air and only Ch 11 when connected to my iPad 1. I was hoping to use the iPad 1 since it's just sitting around and it's 64GB. Have I identified another bug here or is this a limitation of the iPad 1. I know the iPad 1 is limited to 24-channels instead of 48, but I'm only using 16. Please check and advise.

There is a setting in Auria that has something to do with Core Audio. It doesn't display on my iPad 1, only on my iPad Air. Something here I need to know about?

The iPad 1 doesn't have those core audio options because those are only available in iOS6 and above (iPad 1 is limited to iOS 5). Are you saying you're not getting signal on input 12 on the iPad 1? I can't think of why that would be different.

Its almost like they are treated as stereo pairs. Ch 11/12 show up on 11 and Ch 12/13 show up on 12, even though the tracks are mono tracks. Keep in mind I'm using 2 Focusrite 18i20's The first unit (i.e. Interface), Ch 1-8 work perfectly. 9-10 are SPIDIF which I don't use. Ch 11-18 are the 2nd Focurite 18i20 (i.e. Standalone) that is having the issue described above.

All the even channels on my 18i20 unit connected via ADAT are not appearing (i.e. 12, 14, 16, 18). Only the odd channels (i.e. 11, 13, 15, 17). Do you have an iPad 1 you can test with?
