I’ve used Drum Perfect Pro with good results. However, Drum Perfect Pro is very in depth and can be very time consuming. It’s not for everyone, but it gives you control of just about everything for the Drum sound. I’ve also used Drum Session which is much simpler, but in my opinion can also sound nice. I have X Drummer, but it is still in development and missing a lot of functionality. I’ve never used, but heard good things about rock drum machine and funk drummer. There are many others as well. I’m sure someone will chime in with their preferences.

Thanks, Tom. I’ll check them both out.

I’m from the “Drum Perfect is too complicated” camp, but it really is unmatched in terms of control and realism for acoustic drums. I like Drum Sessiom a lot, but I don’t like Rock Drum Machine because the fills sound unrealistic. The drummers in GarageBand are useful too, and it’s free.

I haven't used it myself but a lot of people seem to like patterning.
