New CoreAudio mode setting in Auria 1.11

Post by Rim » Thu Jul 18, 2013 10:31 am

Since we've been experiencing so many problems due to the new Core Audio MultiRoute mode, I've decided to add a new settings option in 1.11 which will allow you to choose whether or not to use MultiRoute. Apple still has a few bugs to iron out in the MultiRoute mode, so in the mean time you can turn it off if you don't need it. This will cause fewer issues with USB and MFi devices.

The only disadvantage to not using MultiRoute is that you're not able to send a different mix to the iPad headphones vs the USB device. if that's not important to you, I recommend leaving this mode off.

We'll be submitting 1.11 later today.

Very cool Rim. Thanks for that. I'm very excited about the new FXPansion plugins becoming available in this new update. Auria is working great under the new update. Thanks again for all your hard work.

Just recently video scratch app finally fixed the bugs on ios 6, so glad I didn't cave in to this, loving my 5 so much better, apple really needs to address this within the app community so to speak...life...

MultiRoute??

Could someone explain this to me as if I've never heard of it before (because I haven't).

Apple introduced MultiRoute mode with iOS6, and Auria used this mode as it's default mode since then. MultiRoute allows you to send one mix to the built-in iPad headphone jack, and a separate mix to a USB device. Since there are several MultiRoute bugs Apple still needs to fix, I've decided to make this mode optional. Here are the current bugs in MultiRoute:

- Plugging in / unplugging headphones while a USB device is plugged in can cause a crash
- Internal iPad mic is muted when starting an app with MultiRoute for the first time
- Apps that use MultiRoute don't play nice with other audio apps when in the background

i've also added an additional mode called Legacy, which uses the older, more reliable methods for accessing the audio system from iOS5. This mode still works right now, but may be discontinued by Apple in future iOS versions.

I recommend experimenting with these modes if you're having trouble with a USB device, and use the mode that works best.

Just to confirm, is this the issue causing latency with the duet?
I've scoured all posts on the subject, tried just about everything and no matter what I do overdubs are way off.
Thanks,
Pete

1.11 was submitted to Apple today.

The Duet latency issue was a combination of firmware and a bug in MultiRoute.
