Interapp Sync

Post by koalamask » Wed Jul 31, 2013 2:19 pm

Hello everyone.

Are you able to send clock from Auria to synth apps which accept it? While using Audiobus as the audio connector, I've been unable to start either Thor or Funkbox with Auria's master clock. It's important that Auria is the master, because Thor cannot send clock to start Auria, and I want my recorded material to be properly aligned on the time grid.

Thank you!

Yes, Auria is capable of sending a MIDI clock. It must be enabled in the MIDI settings. We haven't tested those apps, but our experience is that many apps don't handle MIDI clock correctly.

Exactly. Either I'm doing something wrong or both Funkbox and Thor aren't receiving clock properly. Can you give me an example of an app that accepts Auria's clock? I'll install it and see if my setup is at fault.

One possible app would be Magellan, it locks to Auria's clock well.

MIDI sync seems to be a difficult thing for app developers to master, which is why not many apps get it right.

Thesis seems to be another app that handles MIDI clock well.

Funkbox not starting with MIDI clock confirmed. One has to use other apps like Loopy to record a pattern from Funkbox, and transfer the audio file to Auria.

but funkbox will start auria so you can use the funkbox start button on the audiobus panel. hope to do more auria+random apps+midi bridge experimenting this week. Will report any good news.

I see, thanks for the tip. Indeed, I remember having Loopy as slave, and Funkbox as master. From my routine I prefer to have the recorder as master, but actually it doesn't matter today.

Actually, you can set Loopy as the clock master with funkbox - Auria doesn't work that way though. Not sure why at this point.
