FR- dither for mastering

Post by mtingle » Thu Aug 01, 2013 5:43 am

There's really no reason why Auria couldn't be used for mastering, there are some excellent plugins to use. The one element missing is being able to dither from 24 to 16 bit ready for burning to CD.

Could an option be introduced in the mixdown section to enable dither, or perhaps a dither plugin be added?

In the meantime, FabFilter's Pro-L has 16/20/24 bit dither plus noise shaping, so any mastering chain using this optional plugin has dithering possibilities already.
