Copy and edit entire track

Post by G-master G » Sun Aug 25, 2013 3:26 am

Hello

I have copied an entire guitar track to a new track in my project. When I the try and edit the copied version of the track it appears to be performing the edits on the original track as well. So for example if I silence a section of the copied guitar track it also silence it on the original guitar track. How can I rectify this so that any edits to the copied guitar track are not performed also on the original guitar track. Thanks grant.

silence is a destructive function that alters the original audio file and this then is reflected in and regions making use of that audio file.

To achieve a unique destructive edit on region you select the region then press 'condense regions' from the process menu. This makes it it's own file. You can then perform destructive edits like silence.

Another option would be to use the mute region function to silence parts of the region
