What exactly do you mean by analog summing? As in sending the mix through an analog mixer as well?

If so, then no it's not needed really. If you have some really nice vintage valves and compressors/EQ units etc.. then yeah, but failing that no, probably won't make much of a difference. But that's my own personal opinion, this can be very subjective.
