Boss Dr 880

Post by Lester Ballard » Sun Feb 01, 2015 3:54 am

Hi,

Does anyone use a Boss Dr 880 with their setup? If so, what are the outputs like? I use a focusrite itrack solo interface and was wondering how I might connect the two, as the itrack solo only has one jack and one xlr input.

Any help would be appreciated.

Lester

Well it looks like you'll have to go out the Dr-880 into the iTrack Solo mono.

Just a recommendation would be to get an audio interface with midi and more inputs. I use an Akai EIE (redface) and it suits most of my home studio needs.

One way is like Marygras said. Here is a way to help this process. Connect the Dr880 usb to a usb hub that the iTrack is plugged into. Even if the Dr880 isn't class compliant, the usb connection will allow midi clock to be recieved by the Dr880. Set Auria to send midi clock out to the iTrack and this data will be transmitted over the usb connection. Now take an output of each drum part at a time and record the part into Auria but now your tracks will be aligned as the Dr880 responds to start and stop commands. Set the Dr880 to recieve external clock. Ps. If for some reason this experiment doesnt work it cost very little to try it out but my guess is it will work. Auria may even see the Dr880 and so try clocking out to that if you do. Cheers.~~_/)~~~*

Anthony, I bet that will work. I'll have to try that too.
