1818VSL Help

Post by mandodon » Mon Aug 06, 2012 6:05 pm

My 1818VSL just came in. Do I have to do an install on my computer before it will work with Auria? I'm getting nothing out of the main outs or 7&8 outs. I've got a headphone amp hooked up--not thrilled with the ipad out. I understand the headphone on the 1818VSL won't work.

Using the ipad headphone out, I get nothing unless record monitoring is on in the settings and that has too much latency to make it useful. With my Zoom H2 as a USB mic, I could turn record monitoring off in the settings and get close to 0 latency and still hear the recorded tracks along with what I was overdubbing and the click.

Anybody actually get the 1818VSL to work with Auria so you could do overdubs without latency?

Not a happy camper.

Should I get any activity on the main out meters on the front of 1818vsl with nothing plugged into the headphone out of the ipad? Mine are dead.

Downloaded and installed the AB1818VSL software and firmware update to the 1818 box. Took it back to Auria and still have nothing out 7&8 or the main outs with no headphones plugged into the ipad. Still can't monitor through the ipad headphone out unless record monitor is checked and with latency that makes overdubs impossible. Any ideas?

The iPad will only output from 1&2 on a USB device. The reason why you're not hearing anything out of 1 & 2 is because the 1818 defaults to "volume off" on output 1&2. It's an easy fix -

1. Plug in the 1818 while Auria is running
2. Once you see the USB indicator on top of Auria's screen, turn up your iPad's hardware volume control (located on the side of your iPad). This control adjusts the 1818's 1&2 output volume.
3. This only needs to be done once, as the 1818 will remember this volume setting.

Hey Rim, that works perfectly! I've got signal out the main outs now running to my headphone amp. I can overdub with very low latency (if any). I'm a happy guy again!

THANKS again for the great support you provide for your fabulous program. I'm saying goodbye to my laptop and its noisy fan for tracking. Brilliant work!!
