Post by Markie4eyezz » Tue Mar 18, 2014 7:26 pm

Quick question
Ik multimedia I rig mic does it work in auria

My 2 cents: I wouldn't use anything that plugs into the headphone jack.

I have used it with auria b4 for a quick verse I did for a friend on the go. It's alright, but your vocals will require to must treatment to sound just alright. I have high hopes for the irig mic hd. I believe in having something you can easily carry around with you to record an idea.

Thank you
I was looking at the irig hd too
But I just want a mic to record some vocals more so as a demo And mixtape style rough tracks
Not expecting anything on a serious professional level

It's hip hop so we can get a way with the raw styles anyway.

Just wanted to make sure it works with auria

Anyone else who can offer advice on other mics I will deffo consider it too

Thanks

I'd REALLY suggest using an HD mic and not going thru the headphone jack. The irig mic and the irig guitar jack have a tendency to bleed when you have a set of headphones in them. If you have the headphone output go into a mixer and then use the headphone output from the mixer it's a lot better. But if u just want to straight use an irig mic and a set of headphones don't do it. Unless you don't mind your music bleeding onto your lead vocal and lead bleeding onto your ad libs get the irig HD.

@- Strizbiz

Thanks for your advice
Can you just quickly confirm are you saying wait for the irig mic hd
Or buy any other hd mic

Anyone care sure their set up when it comes to vocal mics with auria
Especially for hip hop n rnb vocals

My budget is £100 at the most
But for that price I may as we'll spend a touch more and get a proper mic and possibly connect it via the irig pre amp

Thanks as always

The iRig Pre also plugs into the headphone jack. I think you'll end up regretting it. For about $220 (about 130 pounds, I think) you could get a Shure SM58 (not just a great live mic, but a very good studio mic as well) and a Focusrite iTrack solo (people on the forum have said good things about it), which I think would be a good start for the kinds of vocals you're after.

Nah, I'm not saying to just gt the irig mic HD, just avoid one that uses the headphone jack. Ideally I'd say get an HD interface and a separate mic. The irig pro looks decent but there's other ones out there too.

I think the irig mic hd will be what you are truly looking for. It has great promise and I believe it will be TONS better than the original. Now in my opinion a step up from that would be the apogee mic 96k. I'm curious to hear a comparison especially based on the price difference between the two.

I have the iTrack Solo and it's great. Good for guitar and headphones / monitors as well as providing a good quality mic pre amp with phantom power.

I run mine with an SE Electronics SE2000 condenser microphone (about £70) and get really top quality results :P

I guess a condenser may be a bit sensitive, depending on how hardcore your vocals are

iRig HD is out. A friend is using it with Auria, says it's fantastic. Prefers over the Apogee Duet.
