Yes I can explain. The meter is reading the level at the timeline pointer which is not at the peak of the wave. If the pointer was at the peak of the wave it would read -12 db. Acurate to a few db since most daws meters are not that correct. Cheers

If the stereo wav is equal on both L/R meaning both sides share the same amplitude because they are produced from a mono signal but simply recorded in stereo, then they would be summed to mono in a mid side monitorng and would not be in the side channel but in the mid or centre channel. It is possible that these two combined wavs result in a higher db reading. Cheers.

You're probably seeing the effects of pan law in the master meter. By default, the pan law is -3dB, equal power. If you are playing a mono track, Auria will play that track into both L and R channels. So the master channel (and master meter) will see a 3dB drop on each channel (this is how all modern mixers work). The reason is because when you play that mono mix out of two speakers, the perceived loudness to your ears will be the same as if you were only playing through one speaker (because each speaker is playing that signal -3dB).
You can easily change the pan law to something else in the Mixer section of the settings page.
