Project won’t mix down

Post by Psamber » Wed Feb 10, 2021 11:47 am

Hi,

I’m attempting to mix down a project but nothing is happening. It worked last night. I made several edits this morning, but went back through each available snapshot and none are working.

Please help.

Thanks,

Paul

What do you mean 'nothing is happening'?

When you go to Menu> Mixdown- does the mixdown settings window open?

Yes sorry. The window opens, but the bar never starts moving. I left it for an hour yesterday and it never started.

How many tracks are in the project, how long is it?

How much hard drive space is left on your iPad?

What export method is set in the mixdown?

I would ask what plugins are used in the project. I had a similar problem last year and it was related to an AUv3 that was in my project. It required the plugin's developer to fix something (which he did).

There are 15 tracks and the song is a little over 6 minutes.

The export method is off, and my iPad has 193 of 512 GB used.

If it’s helpful, other projects that are larger and longer are mixing down just fine.

I think I had tried to use audiokit synth one as inter app audio, and that may be when the problems started, although I’ve since deleted the track.

Try saving a copy of your current project and see if the newly saved one can then Export

Sorry for the delay here. That isn’t working either.

Can you list all the plugins used in the project?

If you haven't tried this, see what happens if you mute all the channels and then all but one to rule out one channel perhaps causing the problem

As a test, you could make a copy of the project and remove all plugins from use.

I have the same problem. The project doesn’t mix down. An audio file with the export name gets created, but they all are 0 KB.

The used instrument is Respiro.

If you mute Respiro, does it mixdown ok?

If you freeze the Respiro track, does the project mixdown ok?

Another thing you can try is to create a new audio track.Send the output of the Respiro track to the new track. Play the track and record the Respiro audio to the new audio track. Then mute the original Respiro track and mix down.

thank you Espiegel for your help. Indeed it is the plugin that causes the problem. The same project with a different plugin (Mersenne instead of Respiro) renders fine for mixdown. The problem is not there in Garageband. There I can record MIDI notes playing Respiro and export audio.

In Auria, I tried your advice to route the instrument track to an empty audio track, but the audio track input switches from
‘Bus 1’ to ‘Mic’ when Record is armed. I have no idea why it does that. I probably need to route in the audio matrix, will try next time.

When you arm recording, just tap the source to popup a menu that will let you choose Bus 1 as the source. Even though arming switches the input source you can switch it back.

What happens if you try to freeze the track? Does that fail?

You also might want to let the plug-in developer know.
