What is this I'm hearing on the iPhone 7 there is no headphone socket
If this is the future and this is the way forward with iPads are we not screwed.
I use an apogee mic via lightening connector
And headphones in the socket.
How will you monitor ?
I dont see Apple included a free audio interface or some adapater so even more money we have to spend.
I think I'll be sticking with iPad Pro for quite some years if I can.
Interested to hear possible work rounds thanks
Death To the headphone socket ?
Re: Death To the headphone socket ?
Maybe there will be a cable available in the future with a lightning connector and headphone socket, but for now I don't see a work around either.
Re: Death To the headphone socket ?
Hey all,
Check out the i-dSP, will solve the problem, not overly expensive, does require the Lightning to USB adapter as well

Maybe this lightning splitter will solve this issue: http://www.cnet.com/products/belkin-lig ... r/preview/
Re: Death To the headphone socket ?
I use iTrack Solo so I do not use the 3.5" socket unless I'm traveling and using the Line6 mobile interface.
On the long term I see no minuses of dumping the 3.5" socket. The internal DAC and headphone amp in the iOS device is not as good more dedicated gear out there. In addition the 3.5" is an other component which can cause cross talk and various gain/ clipping issues. The 3.5" socket doesn't have the ideal power or impedance to drive many upper end headphones anyway.
There are already many types of interface out there which support iOS and can deal with audio in/ out the iOS device via the Lightning port.

Re: Death To the headphone socket ?
Thanks for your positive responses
But yet still one thing I do not understand is I have a £50ish Sony Bluetooth Headphones
Which does not work with Auria
Will there be any plans by Rim and the Auria crew, to make Bluetooth headphones compatible
If Apple do get rid of the headphone socket?
I swear I read on this very forum it wasn't possible for Bluetooth headphones to be read by Auria ?
