Cannot get playback after Recording in

The playback waveform is seen, but I am not getting playback sound.

Why?

Using X-air iPad Pro app
I can provide screen shots, but nothing is working, I get sound from the Yamaha MOXF8 thru the sound board but nothing plays back from the iPad.

I am almost willing to pay someone to come help me ring this thing out.

I've blown a deadline and now am stuck.
