iPad4 vs Macbook Pro Sound Quality Variation

Previously reading this post caused me some concern wrt the built-in high pass filter as I'm using the headphone jack, and nothing is worse than knowing that you can't trust your ears with a mix.

However, did some digging and it turns out that the high pass filter is only on the headphone INPUT, not the output.. And apparently even that has been resolved since iOS 6. See following links:
